The problem

A Hebrew date lands on a different civil day every year, so a yahrzeit, a Hebrew birthday or a wedding anniversary kept in Google, Apple or Outlook is wrong eleven months out of twelve. Families either look each date up again every year or quietly miss it.

The tools that exist are either one-off date converters or calendar apps with no idea what a Hebrew month is. Nothing let a whole family share one set of dates and have them appear, on the right day, inside the calendars they already open every morning.

What we built

We designed and built a bilingual Next.js web app, Hebrew-first with a full English mirror, including right-to-left layout, locale-aware metadata, dark mode and an installable home-screen app. Sign-in is Google only, and the app asks for nothing beyond a name and an email address.

Every family keeps one shared calendar. A date can be entered on either calendar and recurs on the Hebrew one, worked out server-side for every year ahead, alongside holidays, Shabbat times for the family's city and the week's parasha. Changes can be set to need the other side's approval before they count, which is what makes the same product work for separated parents sharing custody of their children.

The calendar is published as a private subscription feed, so it appears as its own calendar in Google, Apple or Outlook and every change made in the app shows up there by itself. Each family member gets their own link, and a link can be revoked without touching anyone else's.

Around the app sits a set of free public tools built for search: a yahrzeit calculator, a Hebrew birthday calculator, a date converter, Shabbat times by city and the weekly parasha, each in both languages with its own metadata, Open Graph image and sitemap entry, and each ending in an invitation to make a family calendar.

Result

A live, free product that a family can set up in under five minutes and never has to think about again: the dates arrive in their own calendars on the right day, every year.

The public calculators bring in search traffic in both languages at no marketing cost, and the whole thing runs on free tiers, so there is no bill to cover before it earns anything.
